The goal of project 2 was to explore traditional medicine in China, specifically herbal remedies. I explored the history, current aspect, as well as discussed some herbs that are commonly used in TCM.
Global Studies
For global studies, I used the perspective of a TCM practitioner, who wants to give advice to someone who's new to it. I specifically imagined someone who is hesitant to try these different herbs. Therefore, I found recipes that use each different herb, alluding to the modern implication of TCM, especially in the US. I also included the benefits of each herb, for a bit of context.

English
For english, I wrote an essay on the history and future implications of TCM. It also touches on the research, or lack thereof, behind this form of medicine, and different opinions on that subject. The format for this essay was expository, as it was purely informational. I used perspective throughout my process, as I had to learn the different stances on the effectiveness of TCM in order to be impartial.

Art
For art, I illustrated the cards I made for history. There are illustrations for both the herb and the recipe on each card, just to give a small visual representation. There's also a small design on the front to give it more color. I also constructed a plexiglass box to fit the 10 recipe cards. The cards include the common name, Latin name, as well as the Chinese name. The QR code on each card will take you to the ingredients and instructions for that recipe.
